The Equipping classes at Cedar Grove are a series of Bible and discipleship classes which are designed to meet people where they are in their spiritual journey. They are offered in a suggested sequence which help people grow in their understanding of the Bible and what it means to follow Jesus. Below is a brief description of the classes as well as a yearly schedule.
Bible 101: Beginning basics on the Bible itself. It includes such topics as organization of the Bible, basic outlines, geographical and historical contexts. It is designed to help those not familiar with the Bible to gain a solid foundation to guide them in understanding.
Bible 102: This class looks at three major themes in scripture. These themes connect the Old and New Testaments and are critical to a person’s understanding of the Bible.
Bible 201 and 202: These courses look at 14 different topics from scripture that Believers should know. This includes topics such as Salvation, Baptism, the Holy Spirit, Stewardship, and ten others.
Bible 301: This class focuses on Bible Interpretation. It is designed to give new and seasoned believers alike useful tools to study and understand the Bible.
Bible 302: This class puts to use the techniques and strategies learned in 301 and works through an entire book of the Bible (e.g. Philippians). Bible 301 must be completed before being eligible for this class.
Bible 401: This class helps believers learn how God has designed them. It is referred to as a SHAPE class (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Aptitude, Personality and Experience). This is a great way to learn how to get involved in ministry.
Bible 402: This class is for those planning on going on one of the many short term mission trips offered during the summer. Understanding the foundations of missions and missions strategy are some of the topics covered in this course.
These classes range in length from 8-13 weeks. The course schedule below is offered as a guide to help you begin getting equipped! When deciding what classes you want to take, please keep in mind that you can go as fast or as slow as you like. The point is not to see how quickly you can get through the sequence, but rather, to immerse yourself in God’s Word and get thoroughly prepared for ministry.
