We place a high value on the lives of our children at Cedar Grove. Children’s ministry exists to SUPPORT parents in discipling children as they seek to understand WHO God is, WHY the Bible matters, and HOW that affects our lives. Below are several of the ways we seek to do just that.
Sunday Morning
We offer programming for kids during 1st service, Sunday School, and 2nd service. There are a few differences in programming options between the three, so please see below in order to prayerfully make the best decision for you and your family.
First Service – 8:30am

Birth – 3
Our nursery is set up on the main floor just outside the sanctuary. While in our care, kids will participate in games and activities focused not only on physical development but also on reinforcing the fact that Jesus loves them. When you drop your child off, please be sure to alert the leader of any allergies that your child may have, and if your child has been sick recently, we ask that your child stay with you so that we don’t spread germs to other children.
Pre-K – 5th Grade
During 1st service, your kids get to join you for worship. This is an amazing opportunity to lead by example through joining in with songs and taking notes during the sermon. During the song service, we do a children’s sermon, and we would love for your child (Pre-K – 5th grade) to come to the front and join us for an object lesson designed to help kids experience the Bible in exciting ways. We will also have busy bags available for anyone ages Pre-K through 3rd grade that contain a children’s bulletin, a couple of coloring sheets, a silent fidget item, and, sometimes, an additional fun surprise. We also have a sermon note page available for 1st-3rd grades and 4th-5th grades. When these are completed and shown to the security person behind the welcome desk, your child will receive a fun prize that is different each week.
Sunday School – 9:45am
Birth – 3
Our nursery is set up on the main floor just outside the sanctuary. While in our care, kids will participate in games and activities focused not only on physical development but also on reinforcing the fact that Jesus loves them. When you drop your child off, please be sure to alert the leader of any allergies that your child may have, and if your child has been sick recently, we ask that your child stay with you so that we don’t spread the germs to other children.
Pre-K – 2nd Grade
Our younger elementary kids meet downstairs for Sunday school.. The stairs are located just outside the sanctuary, and they will meet in the 2nd classroom on the left. While in our care, they will have the opportunity to explore what the Bible says and what God says through activities and crafts designed to keep them engaged and experience the reality of God’s love.
3rd – 5th Grade
Our older elementary kids meet downstairs for Sunday school. The stairs are located just outside the sanctuary, and they will meet in the 1st classroom on the left. While they are with us, our teachers will come alongside them as your kids are challenged to learn the books of the Bible, begin to find Bible passages independently, and draw conclusions about what the Bible says and how it impacts our lives.
2nd Service – 11:00am
Pre-K – 3rd Grade
Our younger elementary kids will start our worship service with you in the sanctuary. This is an amazing opportunity for you to lead by example as your kids learn what it looks like to worship God alongside other believers. After the song service, your kids will be dismissed to children’s worship. If this is your child’s first time at children’s worship, please go with your child so that you can see where they will be picked up as well as ensure the leader is aware of any allergies or special situations. While your child is with us, they will be fed a small snack, and participate in some Bible skills, drills, and thrills with the intention of reinforcing the fact that the Bible is God’s letter to us, and we can get to know Him through that letter. After the service is done upstairs, please join us downstairs to pick your child up.
4th – 5th Grade
Our older elementary kids will join you for the entire service. This is an amazing opportunity for you to elad by example as your child learns not only what it means to worship God alongside other believers but also how to follow a sermon, make note of questions and realizations, and become an active part of the church body. We will have children’s bulletins as well as sermon notes pages available at the welcome desk for your child to use. At the end of the sermon, if your child shows their completed notes to either the Children’s Director or the person behind the Welcome Desk, they will receive a fun prize that is different from week to week.
Wednesday Evening
We offer programming for kids during the Bible study hour from 7pm-8pm, and, through the end of May, we will have a free meal from 6:15pm-7pm that we would love for you and your family to join us for.

Pre-K – 5th Grade
At 7pm, the leaders will meet the kids on the main level in Faith Hall (just down the ramp from the sanctuary). If this is your child’s first time to join us on a Wednesday, please connect with the leader to inform them of any allergies or special situations. This is also a chance for us to ensure that we have received an information card from you with your contact information. Our elementary kids then travel downstairs for Girls in Action and Royal Abassadors. This is a missions-minded program designed to teach kids about different cultures, sharing the Gospel, and praying specifically for those who have been sent all over the world for full-time missions work.
We would love for Pre-K through 5th graders to join us for a Christmas party downstairs during worship. We will do a Christmas escape game focused on Jesus’ birth, make a craft, and, of course, open some presents 🙂

January 11th, we invite you and your entire family (biological and chosen) to join us for a free lunch. While you’re with us, you’ll get to hear some of the plans for the upcoming year as well as have a chance to sit down with your people and pray about what God is calling you to over the next 12 months. Please RSVP by texting Lora Joy or calling the church.
